Playgroup Census Week

Date & Time:
March 16, 2026 @ 08:00 AM ACDT - March 22, 2026 @ 23:59 PM ACDT

The Importance of Playgroup Census Week
In showcasing the number of families attending playgroup each week, we are shedding light on the number on families who benefit from regular playgroup sessions.
The Playgroup Census will allow us to demonstrate the positive impact playgroups have- through playgroup families gain support, connection, insight, learning, fun and meaningful relationships that support the wellbeing of the family unit and wider community.

The Playgroup Census will help to set playgroup up for the future, establishing it as a mainstay in the early years education journey, running alongside kinder and preparing children for school. Moreover, it illustrates the shared experience and the benefit it extends to parents and carers bringing up the next generation of children. Your support in completing the Census is greatly appreciated. The more accurate our data, the stronger our voice when representing playgroups across the state.

How Does the Census Work?
The Census is a short form, containing six questions, as follows:
•Which playgroup are you attending? (Address, date, start time)
•How many children have you brought to playgroup today?
•Including yourself, how many adults have you brought to playgroup today?
*Please note: The Playgroup Census will not collect any personal or demographic information. The Census is focused exclusively on how many people are attending playgroups, how many playgroups they are attending, and where they are attending them.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your continued commitment to your playgroup community.

Acknowledgement of country.

Playgroup SA acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the South Australian regions upon whose ancestral lands our Playgroups operate on.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and future for they  old the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We also pay respect to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people from other areas of South Australia and Australia and acknowledge their deep feelings of attachment and Spiritual relationship to Country.

Playgroup SA recognises the pain and suffering caused by past policies to Aboriginal Australians and the impact this has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.

At Playgroup SA we are committed to a future of reconciliation, we believe that there is much knowledge and wisdom to be gained by Aboriginal Australians, by the learning of Country, land, cultures, truths and realities.
