MCCSA Multicultural Playgroup
MCCSA Multicultural Playgroup is a welcoming and inclusive playgroup for multicultural families across the community. It provides children and parents with opportunities to connect, build friendships, celebrate cultural diversity, and support children’s early learning through play.
Our playgroup offers a variety of engaging activities, including sensory play, creative experiences, physical play, storytelling, and cultural celebrations. Families are encouraged to share their cultures, languages, and traditions in a warm and supportive environment where every child and family feels valued and included.
Through play and connection, children can develop confidence, social skills, creativity, and a sense of belonging, while parents can meet other families and build community connections.
We welcome families from all cultural backgrounds to join us for fun, friendship, and learning through play.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT NAIDOC STANDS FOR?
NAIDOC has its roots in a powerful moment in Australian history. On 26 January 1938, while many people marked 150 years since the arrival of the First Fleet, more than 1000 Aboriginal people gathered at Australia Hall in Sydney to demand full citizenship rights and fair laws for First Nations peoples. This significant event became known as the Day of Mourning and is recognised as one of the earliest major civil rights gatherings in the world.
From this moment, NAIDOC Week has grown and evolved. Today, it honours the history of the Day of Mourning while also celebrating the strength, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
National NAIDOC Week is held each year from the first Sunday in July to the following Sunday.

What to do on a day when isn’t much on? Head outside and have a look at your environment. Here are a couple of ideas that your baby/toddler will love!
🌿 Nature Treasure Hunt
Collect leaves, sticks, flowers, feathers or interesting rocks and talk about their colours, shapes and textures.
💦 Water Play
Set up tubs, buckets, cups and spoons for pouring, scooping and splashing.
🫧 Bubble Chasing
Blow bubbles and encourage children to run, jump and reach to catch them.
🎨 Nature Art
Collect leaves, sticks and flowers to create pictures or patterns on the ground.
🚶 Neighbourhood Walks
Look for birds, dogs, flowers, trucks or colours while exploring your local area.
⚽ Ball Games
Roll, kick, throw or chase balls to build coordination and confidence.
🌈 Chalk Creations
Draw pictures, roads, shapes or obstacle courses on the pavement with chalk.
🐞 Bug Spotting
Look under logs, around plants and in the garden to discover insects and other tiny creatures.

Are you a parent wanting to start your own playgroup? Maybe your parent’s group would like to become a playgroup?
Playgroup SA offers Playgroup Registration to promote and provide support for you and your playgroup. Training includes starting a playgroup, creating inclusive environments, and additional training modules on Child Development and Play. Playgroup SA provides insurance for your community playgroup and can help negotiate and source venues for you to run the playgroup.

An intergenerational playgroup is a space where people
from all age groups and generational differences come
together to play, share knowledge and understanding.
The benefits of these programs are reciprocal for families,
children, and older friends. These groups foster a culture
of respect within the community and provide support
and connection for older friends at risk of isolation.
Parents are supported to create a peer support network
and provides an intentional setting that gives the
opportunity for both children, families, and older friends
to learn new skills, discovering a new sense of purpose
and belonging.
