Playgroup SA provide online training courses to support Playgroup Coordinators and Families extend their knowledge and skills relating to the importance of play, child development and other related topics. Coordinators and families can learn at their own pace updating their knowledge and skills of early childhood development among other topics. Enrolment is free for Playgroups registered with Playgroup SA, and families who have enrolled in a Playgroup with Playgroup SA.
Playgroup Foundations
Are you wanting to establish a Playgroup, but not sure where to start? Do you want to know the fundamentals of running a Playgroup? Playgroup Foundations is a starter course to inform you all about what Playgroups are, types of Playgroups available and how to establish your own.
PlayTogether
Developed by Playgroup SA in 2018, PlayTogether is a Community Playgroup program which can be embedded into all Playgroups to ensure they are totally inclusive of children and adults with disabilities. This courses endeavours to give participants the necessary information and includes topics such as “What is inclusion?”, talking about a child with a disability, welcoming new families and creating inclusive Playgroup environments. A self-referral form is also available should you wish your Playgroup to become a PlayTogether Playgroup.
Play Essentials
Play Essentials delves into Play-based learning for children, including the different types of play and its benefits. The course gives coordinators and participants some ideas to assist with setting up both indoor and outdoor environments, to ensure children are maximising their learning opportunities whilst at Playgroup.
Hygiene at Playgroup
A short course which provides participants with basic knowledge and understanding of health and hygiene, as well as providing strategies on how to keep Playgroup attendees safe from illness and infection protocols.
Intro to Trauma-Informed Practices
Developed by Michael Edgecomb, from Doing Life Together, this training course gives participants an understanding of what trauma is and how it impacts on the development of young children. It also offers some practical tips for participants to support children and adults who have experienced trauma.
